I was clicking through the online design magazine,
Lonny, yesterday and found myself to be rather bored until I came to page 128 and was in awe! It was an article featuring Ruthie Sommers who I have been a fan of for some time but have never seen her LA home, which they featured in the article. You can check out more of it at Lonny, which is in fact worth scrolling through the many pages to get to. I adore the room Sommer's family calls the "Red Room" pictured below that appears to be a very cozy library with amazing color throughout. It looks like you've entered another world and shows how fearless Sommers is with her designs.

The art work here is actually done by Ruthie Sommers. A woman of many artistic talents. |

Loving the patterned fabric on the chair |

This bathroom is wallpapered in a faux crododile print and the chinoisserie painting on the door was done by an artist Sommers commissioned. |

I have to say I love her style and have been very influenced by her in design as well as a few other designers who take amazing antiques and pair it with modern fabrics and art and make a space incredibly eclectic. The other thing I am fascinated by is how ornate and amazingly expensive everything looks but still with this casual, cozy, family comfort to it. She pairs it all together beautifully.
